Magma Aviation appoints Peter Kerins as new CEO
2 new freighters added to air cargo fleet
Magma Aviation, a leading air cargo solutions provider, has appointed Peter Kerins as its new CEO. With over 30 years of experience in aviation and logistics, Kerins will spearhead the London, UK-backed company’s global expansion and operational strategy.
Kerins’ career began in freight forwarding sales in 1991 and spans high-profile roles at Virgin Atlantic, DHL Aviation UK and Middle East, Heavyweight Air Express Group, and Etihad Airways.
His extensive international experience, which includes roles in England, Ireland, Bahrain, the UAE, and the United States, positions him well to leverage Magma Aviation’s growing global presence, with operations in Gatwick, Dublin, and Dubai.
In his new role, Kerins will collaborate closely with crucial Magma Aviation leadership team members, including Finance & Administration Director Emma Brooks, Head of Commercial James Gilliard, Head of Operations James le Poer Trench, and Head of Network Planning & Alliances Paul Hoatson.
Words of support
Eric Erbacher, CEO of Chapman Freeborn, Magma Aviation’s parent company, expressed his confidence in Kerins’ leadership: “Magma Aviation has ambitious plans for the future, and I am certain Peter is the right leader to help us achieve these goals. With his extensive industry experience and proven track record, we are excited to see the progress we will make together.”
Kerins shared his enthusiasm for his new role: “Magma Aviation has shown remarkable growth both before and after the pandemic. With such a strong global team and a solid foundation, we are well-positioned for continued expansion. I am honoured to join the team and look forward to working with our partners to further our global reach.”
Kerins’s appointment as CEO follows Magma Aviation’s recent fleet expansion and office relocation, with the opening of a new office in Dubai, UAE, to support its expanding regional operations.
Narrowbody freighters
The company has added two new narrowbody freighters—an Airbus A321-200P2F and a Boeing B737-800BCF—to its fleet. These aircraft will be strategically stationed at airports in the UAE and the rest of the Middle East to meet the rising demand for efficient cargo transport.
Audrone Keinyte, Director of Magma Aviation DMCC, highlighted the significance of these developments: “The addition of the A321P2F and B737-800BCF aircraft significantly enhances our capacity, with a range of 5,500km between them. This and our new Dubai office strengthen our operational base outside Europe and improve our service offering across the Middle East.”
Keinyte noted: “We are thrilled to expand our geographical coverage and meet increasing customer demand. Our new fleet additions and Dubai office position us to deliver exceptional air cargo services globally.”
With these strategic advancements, Magma Aviation is poised to strengthen its market position and enhance its global connectivity.
