‘Metro Babies’ event held at Legoland Dubai Resort
Celebrating 15 years of Dubai Metro
Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority commemorated the 15th anniversary of the Dubai Metro network with an event honouring those born between 2009 and 2023 on the metro system’s inauguration day (September 9).
The ‘Metro Babies’ event was held at Legoland Dubai Resort.
Rashed Abdulkarim Al Mulla, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority, said: “Legoland Dubai Resort hosted children born on the day of the Dubai Metro’s inauguration, accompanied by their parents, in a joyful celebration filled with a variety of fun activities and events.”
Tim Harrison-Jones, General Manager of Legoland Dubai Resort, expressed excitement about hosting the event.
The celebration included interactive activities, a cake-cutting ceremony, and a performance by the Legoland entertainment team. Participants also enjoyed full access to Legoland Dubai Theme Park and Water Park.

Additionally, until September 27, 2024, commuters will be entertained with musical performances by Emirati and international artists at Dubai Metro stations as part of the fourth Dubai Metro Music Festival, organised by Brand Dubai.
The Dubai Metro network, owned by Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority and inaugurated on September 9, 2009, is the longest fully automated rail system globally. It spans 74.7km and has two main lines: the Red and Green. This advanced urban transit system is the backbone of Dubai City’s transportation network, providing an efficient and affordable travel option for residents and visitors alike.
Operating without drivers, the metro is known for its punctuality and cleanliness, making it a reliable choice for daily commuters. The system’s construction has significantly contributed to the city’s economic growth and tourism, showcasing Dubai’s commitment to modern infrastructure.
