With eye on competition Nissan unveils next-generation models and technologies

For FY25 and FY26
Nissan has unveiled a diverse array of new and refreshed models and cutting-edge technologies set to debut in the next two years. The move is part of Nissan’s broader strategy for fiscal years 2025 and 2026, which aims to strengthen the Japanese automaker’s position in the global automotive market, enhance customer loyalty, and drive sustainable growth.
The upcoming product lineup features various powertrain technologies, including hybrids, next-generation electric vehicles (EVs), and advanced internal combustion engines (ICEs). These offerings demonstrate Nissan’s commitment to meeting the growing demand for diverse and eco-friendly automotive solutions.
Guillaume Cartier, Chief Performance Officer at Nissan, said: “We have unveiled our redefined market approach and tailored product strategy, designed to meet customer needs better and drive top-line growth.”

“Through powertrain diversification and the introduction of new models, we will offer a broader range of options that cater to diverse customer preferences, further distinguishing the Nissan and Infiniti brands.”
Ivan Espinosa, Chief Planning Officer at Nissan, added: “Over the next two years, we are excited to roll out an impressive lineup that will redefine the road! This includes the reimagined Nissan Leaf and a daring new Micra EV. But that is not all – we are refreshing our range of SUVs to elevate the driving experience, and our next-generation e-Power promises new refinement and efficiency.

“We are committed to investing in products that embody the best of Nissan. To our passionate fans and loyal owners worldwide, I can assure you that this is just the beginning of an exciting journey ahead.”
All-new Leaf
The Nissan Leaf, one of the world’s most recognised EVs, is being completely reimagined for the third generation. Transforming into a sleek and spacious family-friendly crossover, the all-new Leaf combines cutting-edge aerodynamics with an advanced electric vehicle (EV) architecture.
This new iteration will be available for the first time with 19-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic moonroof. The Leaf will also feature a NACS charging port for the North American market, enabling easy access to the Tesla Supercharger network, marking a first for Nissan EVs.

Built on the CMF-EV platform, introduced with the Nissan Ariya, the new Leaf features a more efficient energy management system, improved packaging, and enhanced driving performance by incorporating Nissan’s new 3-in-1 EV powertrain. The third-generation Leaf is expected to offer significant range improvements over the previous generation, with additional details on performance and specifications set to be announced later this year.
e-Power technology
For customers seeking a more sophisticated hybrid powertrain, Nissan is set to debut its third-generation e-Power system, which builds upon the success of over 1.6 million units produced since the technology’s launch in 2016. This new system is designed to provide up to a 15% improvement in fuel economy at high speeds compared to its predecessor. Furthermore, it promises reduced emissions and enhanced refinement, including lower noise and vibration levels.
The next-generation e-Power system will debut on the Nissan Qashqai in Europe by the end of FY2025, followed by the next-generation Rogue in North America and a large minivan in Japan in FY2026. This system utilises a small-capacity gasoline engine and a lithium-ion battery to power an electric motor, providing an EV-like driving experience with responsive acceleration and near-silent operation.
