Nokia launches Broadband Easy digital platform as demand for fibre connectivity grows

Streamlining fibre rollouts for operators

Nokia has unveiled its new digital platform, Broadband Easy, designed to help operators accelerate and simplify the deployment of fibre networks. This innovative solution provides operators complete visibility and control over the entire fibre rollout process, offering advanced automation and AI-driven tools to optimise project designs, installations, and budgets.

As the demand for fibre connectivity grows, particularly in rural and underserved regions, many operators face significant challenges in deploying fibre to the next billion homes. The complexity and cost of these deployments can often slow progress; however, those who embrace digitalisation in the fibre rollout process are poised to achieve better financial returns.

According to McKinsey, operators who leverage efficiencies through automation and AI can save between 10% and 25% on their projects.

Broadband Easy addresses these challenges by enabling operators to digitalise their fibre deployment strategies. The platform is modular, allowing for seamless integration into existing IT infrastructure, and centralises the management of the entire fibre rollout process. It enables operators to monitor and control subcontractors effectively, mitigating the risk of delays or cost overruns.

Additionally, its automation features enhance the design and field activities by facilitating real-time data exchange, certifying the fibre plant, and producing precise inventory data.

The platform also utilises AI to improve the quality of field installations. By verifying the installation of components, controlling ports allocated to subscribers, and providing on-site training for technicians, Broadband Easy ensures a high standard of work.

This intelligent system reduces errors and ensures the fibre network is built to the highest quality standards, significantly accelerating the deployment timeline.

Operators looking to streamline their fibre rollout further can benefit from Nokia’s comprehensive design and rollout management services. Broadband Easy supports operators’ preferred outside plant vendors or subcontractors and is pre-integrated with Nokia’s Altiplano Access Controller and Nokia Design Center. This pre-integration allows for seamless operation and coordination across the entire fibre deployment process.

Roland Montagne, Principal Analyst at IDATE, highlighted the platform’s capabilities: “The Nokia Broadband Easy platform leverages advanced AI to help operators tackle key FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) deployment challenges, especially subcontractor management and fibre network certification. This tool will help accelerate FTTH rollouts, with 74 million homes still connected across Europe.”

Sandy Motley, Nokia’s President of Fixed Networks, highlighted Broadband Easy’s transformative impact, stating, “With Broadband Easy, we’re making fibre deployment easier, faster, and more cost-effective for operators.

“Combining our deep expertise in fibre network design and deployment with cutting-edge automation and AI, we’re helping operators significantly cut costs and rollout times—making high-speed internet access a reality for more communities, sooner.”

Broadband Easy represents a significant step forward in fibre network deployment, offering operators the tools to accelerate connectivity, reduce costs, and meet the growing demand for reliable, high-speed internet access in underserved regions. As operators seek to expand their fibre networks, this platform offers a crucial solution to help them succeed in an increasingly digital world.
