A new study has unveiled the top vacation destinations globally favoured by celebrities, using metrics such as Instagram hashtag counts, Google search volume, the average cost of a one-night stay, and the number of sunny days per year. The research reveals that Paris, France, is the leading celebrity vacation spot.
1 Paris leads with a popularity index 83.9, boasting over 143 million Instagram posts tagged with #Paris and a substantial 46.7 million Google searches. The average cost for a one-night stay in the City of Lights is $148, and it enjoys 165 sunny days annually. Celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid are among those who have frequented the romantic city.
2 Tokyo, Japan, secures the second spot with a popularity index of 61.1. The city garners significant attention from stars such as Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber, with 66 million Instagram hashtags and over 52 million Google searches. Tokyo offers one of the most affordable nightly stays at $83 and benefits from 160 sunny days yearly.
3 Dubai, UAE, ranks third with a popularity index of 60.4. The city stands out for its affordability, with an average nightly rate of $44, and boasts the highest number of sunny days, totalling 360. High-profile visitors like Kim Kardashian, Will Smith, and Selena Gomez have made Dubai a top destination.
4 Santorini, Greece, comes in fourth with a popularity index 52.8. The island is the most searched location on Google, with over 68 million queries. Celebrities such as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been spotted enjoying the picturesque setting. However, Santorini’s average cost for a one-night stay is the highest on the list at $407.
5 Mykonos, Greece, follows closely in fifth place with a popularity index of 49.8. This island attracts celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Bella Hadid despite having fewer Instagram hashtags than Santorini. Mykonos boasts 300 sunny days yearly and an average nightly cost of $525.
6 Sifnos, Greece, ranks sixth with a popularity index of 46.0. Although it has the lowest Instagram hashtag count at 252,945, the island remains a favourite among stars like Tom Hanks and Madonna. Sifnos is also notable for its 300 sunny days and high Google search volume.
7 Bali, Indonesia, ranks seventh with a popularity index of 44.9. The island is trendy on Instagram, with 73 million hashtags, and offers 245 sunny days annually. Celebrities, including Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, have enjoyed Bali’s tropical allure. The average cost of a night’s stay is $211.
8 Hawaii claims the eighth spot with a popularity index of 39.2. Despite having fewer Instagram hashtags than Bali, Hawaii remains a sought-after destination for celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey and Julia Roberts. The state enjoys 276 sunny days per year, with a nightly stay costing an average of $345.
9 London is ninth, with a popularity index of 37.0. Although it has the fewest sunny days—averaging just 140 per year—the city’s rich cultural heritage attracts celebrities like Adele and Emma Watson. London’s average cost for a one-night stay is $341.
10 Rounding out the top 10 list of the world’s most famous vacation hotspots for celebrities is the French Riviera, which has a popularity index 36.5. It is more frequently searched on Google than Paris, making it the top-searched destination in France. With an average nightly rate of $505 and 300 sunny days per year, the French Riviera is a glamorous spot frequented by stars such as Brad Pitt and Beyoncé.
