The 14th edition of the RAK Terry Fox Run concluded successfully raising AED 120,000 to support cancer research initiatives. The event, which drew over 2,500 participants from across the UAE, was held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.
It was organized in collaboration with the Saqr Bin Mohammed Ali Qasimi Charity and Humanitarian Foundation, with all funds raised earmarked for cancer research projects at the College of Health Sciences, University of Sharjah.
To date, the Terry Fox Run in Ras Al Khaimah has raised AED 2 million, which has been donated to various cancer research projects across the UAE. Participants had the option to choose between two routes: a 3km and a 5km course, both starting at the scenic Al Qawasim Road Corniche. The event saw an incredible turnout, with individuals of all ages, from families pushing strollers to avid runners, coming together in solidarity to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.
Dr. Raza Siddiqui, Coordinator of the RAK Terry Fox Run, expressed his deep gratitude for the ongoing support of HH Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi and the local community, stating: “I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to HH Sheikh Saud for his continued leadership in raising awareness and supporting cancer research. His presence and unwavering support at the run each year serve as a tremendous source of motivation and encouragement for the entire community and we are deeply grateful for his involvement.
It was truly inspiring to see the Ras Al Khaimah community, alongside local corporations, come together to turn the Corniche Al Qawasim blue in support of cancer research. This overwhelming show of unity is a testament to the power of collective action. Today’s event sends a powerful message of hope, resilience, and unity—reminding us that, together, we can make a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer.”
The Terry Fox Run, a global event held annually in 33 countries, is recognized worldwide for its significant contribution to cancer research. The event was supported by RAK Police, RAK Hospital, RAK Public Works Department, RAK Media and the RAK Tourism Development Authority, whose partnership helped ensure the success of this year’s run. Moreover, RAK Hospital played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the RAK Terry Fox Run by providing medical support with an ambulance and medical team, as well as event insurance. They also generously invited VIPs and made a significant donation to support cancer research.
Adding further Dr Siddiqui, said, “A huge thank you to the RAK government entities for their invaluable support in making this event possible. Also, I’m extremely grateful to our organizers, volunteers, and sponsors for their incredible contributions. Your efforts are what make the RAK Terry Fox Run such a success each year.
