ROOKIE VICTOR MARTINS TOPS FORMULA 2 PRACTICE AT YAS MARINA CIRCUIT
Alpine Academy driver Victor Martins topped the first Formula 2 practice session of 2023 at the 15th edition of the Grand Prix weekend.
At Yas Marina Circuit, Martins clocked an impressive time of 1:37.389, just 2 hundredths quicker than Carlin’s Zane Maloney to top the session. Championship leader and Martins’ team-mate, Theo Pourchaire was the third fastest.Â
The session saw DAMS’ driver Arthur Leclerc retire, parking his car down in Turn 1 after a mechanical error prematurely ended his last practice of 2023.
Championship contenders Pourchaire, Frederik Vesti and Ayumu Iwasa finished the session in third, ninth and seventh respectively, as the drivers prepared for their qualifying session at 15:00 for Saturday’s sprint race.
