Saab set to showcase JLTV-mounted air defence system at DSEI 2023
Saab, a leading global defence and space manufacturing company, will showcase its missile-equipped RBS 70 NG Mobile Firing Unit (MFU) integrated with the Swedish company’s ultra-rugged tactical electronics, low-latency video distribution system and Barracuda Mobile Camouflage System (MCS) on an Oshkosh Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) at the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition taking place in London, England, from September 12-15, 2023.
By exhibiting its new missile system at DSEI this September, Saab aims to address the growing requirements for mobile air defence worldwide and strengthen land users’ capabilities to meet current and future defence and security challenges.
The Saab MFU uses the RBS 70 NG missile system with its unjammable laser-guided missiles, which provide threats with little forewarning and even fewer means for countermeasures.
The fully integrated multispectral Barracuda MCS conceals the Oshkosh vehicle while allowing the JLTV’s rapid deployment against air-based targets when needed.
On the market
Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s dynamics business, said: “We are now offering the most modern mobile air defence solution, which perfectly matches our existing multispectral camouflage capabilities on the JLTV vehicle.
“We are ready to support Oshkosh’s current customers as well as offer this to new users,” Johansson added.
The Saab-provided tactical electronics and low-latency video distribution system assist the crew through increased battlefield situational awareness.
A partnership between Saab and Oshkosh Defense was announced in June 2022, focusing on the fully integrated solution of Saab’s Barracuda MCS onto the Oshkosh JLTV.
