Saudi Science and Engineering Team Secures 27 Prestigious Awards:

Mawhiba and the Ministry of Education won a total of 27 awards at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair. They were representing the Kingdom and King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity. These prizes include four special prizes and 23 major awards. The ISEF event took place in the US from May 13-19, and over 1,800 brilliant people from over 70 countries took part. At the event, the Saudi science team won a total of 23 prizes and others.

The Regeneron ISEF Experience For The Saudi Science and Engineering Team

A student named Faisal Al-Muhaish won the top prize in chemistry for his project called “Metal-organic framework-based electrocatalyst for a highly efficient and low-cost seawater hydrogen production.” Another student, Mohammed Al-Arfaj, got first place in environmental engineering for his project. The title of this project is “Using a contact liquid to capture CO2 found in Fuel and Air through a highly efficient and low-cost freezing method.”

Several people also came in second place in different areas. Taif Al-Hamdi won an award for his work in the energy field, and Latifa Al-Ghannam and Lynn Al-Melhem received awards for their work in the energy field. Zahra Al-Shabr won an award for her work in biomedicine and health studies, and Fatima Al-Arfaj received an award for her work in chemistry. Wissam Al-Qurshi also received an award for his work in biomedical engineering, and Dima Marwahi won an award for his work on earth and environmental studies.

maria Al-Qumsani in engineering technologies and Bandar Al-Barahim in robotics and intelligent devices won fourth-place awards. Hanadi Arif in the social and behavioral sciences also received a fourth-place award. Also, Maria Al-Ghamdi in environmental sciences; Tahani Ahmad in materials sciences; Dee Shujaa in earth and environmental sciences; Yazan Al-Fulaih in plant sciences; and Maria Al-Fulaih in plant sciences; all received fourth-place awards.

Since the Kingdom began participating in 2007, it has won a total of 133 prizes at ISEF. These prizes include 92 major prizes and 41 special prizes. This year’s achievements added to this overall total. ISEF is thought to be the biggest science and innovation prize fair for pre-university students.

Amal bint Abdullah Al-Hazaa, who is the Secretary General of Mawhiba, congratulated all participants and the Kingdom. She also said that the partnership between Mawhiba and the Ministry of Education helped create a setting that encourages creativity and talent development. This has led to the development of skilled Saudi human capital models that can develop new ways to solve problems related to sustainable development, which is good for all of humanity.

The Saudi science and engineering team did great at the Regeneron ISEF. These accomplishments add to the Kingdom’s impressive record at the fair since its participation in 2007. They also show the Kingdom’s commitment to developing talent and improving scientific excellence.
