Sennheiser launches creator’s audio multitool
Profile Wireless set costs AED1,119
Sennheiser has unveiled the Profile Wireless, a unique two-channel, 2.4 GHz wireless microphone system designed to meet the diverse needs of videographers and content creators. This versatile system connects to mobile phones, cameras, and computers as a clip-on, handheld, or tabletop microphone.
Upon opening its rugged zipper bag, users will find a multifunctional charging bar, which serves as the heart of the Profile Wireless system. This charging bar stores and charges the essential components and doubles as a handheld or desktop microphone.
Inside is a mini receiver with an OLED touch display, two pre-paired clip-on microphones, a 3.5mm coiled cable for camera connectivity, a USB-C charging cable, magnetic clips for clothing attachment, and adaptors for connecting to mobile devices or camera mounts.
Despite its compact size, the two-channel receiver offers clear audio readouts for both channels, making it easy to monitor sound levels.
The system’s adaptability is particularly evident in its various applications—from interviews to vlogs. The receiver connects to different filming devices with included adaptors, allowing creators to monitor audio through a dedicated headphone output. The clip-on microphones can easily attach to clothing, and magnetic mounts can be used for discreet audio capture.
For instances where a separate Lavalier microphone is required, the system includes a lockable 3.5mm TRS jack, ensuring high-quality audio capture regardless of the setting.
Complete versatility
When using a mobile phone for video capture, the Profile Wireless receiver connects through included Lightning or mini-USB adaptors. Notably, a gyro sensor allows the receiver display to rotate automatically, maintaining clear visibility during use, even in vertical content formats.
In addition to its clip-on capabilities, the system features a handheld microphone option, ideal for reporters and interviewers seeking greater control. Creators can convert the clip-on mic into a fully functional handheld microphone with a foam windshield.
Losing audio during a shoot can be disastrous for videographers. To combat this, Profile Wireless incorporates several innovative features. Each clip-on microphone includes 16GB of internal memory for backup recording. Backup Recording Mode activates automatically when wireless signals weaken, safeguarding audio quality. The system also employs a safety channel mode, which records backup audio at a lower volume to prevent clipping.
The clip-on microphone features 24-bit recording capabilities, simultaneously capturing sound at two levels. This minimises the risk of clipped audio and maximises the dynamic range.
With a range of up to 245 metres in line of sight—and 150 metres considering potential body blocking—the Profile Wireless is designed to accommodate various shooting environments. The result is a unique system featuring an integrated handheld option, providing over 15 hours of runtime. In contrast, many competing systems do not allow mic use during charging.
Other standout features include an auto-rotating receiver display, no app requirement, and diverse mounting options, all of which streamline the content creation workflow.
The Sennheiser Profile Wireless system is available for pre-order. Shipments are expected in Q4 2024 and Q1 2025. The system is priced at AED1,199, including 5% VAT in the UAE market.
