Serco’s Space Academy goes global from Saudi Arabia
To foster space talent worldwide
Serco’s Space Academy has launched globally following its regional unveiling in Saudi Arabia last year.
The academy originated from the Saudi Graduate Space Programme, launched in 2023. The programme aimed to foster a solid space sector in Saudi Arabia and was crucial in recruiting and developing the Arabian Gulf nation’s first space engineers while setting the stage for a global academy expansion.
The academy now offers participants from across the globe a comprehensive training programme that equips individuals and organisations with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the global space industry. The first graduate from Saudi Arabia completed the course in August 2024.
The academy offers diverse training services covering all critical disciplines within the space sector, including technical training in a diverse range of subjects, including Earth observation, satellite navigation, satellite communications, ground segment operations, spacecraft operations, and space engineering management.
Multifaceted programme
The programme is designed for a wide range of participants, from advanced university students to seasoned professionals, with training tailored to meet varying levels of expertise. It combines hands-on and theoretical learning to ensure practical application in real-world scenarios, keeping you actively engaged in your learning journey.
Additionally, it offers courses in business aspects of the space economy and innovation, ensuring that unique interests and skills are catered to.
A team of global space experts with decades of experience is conducting training. They are utilising Serco’s advanced facilities in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK, strategically located near key European Space Agency operation centres.
Roberto Mulatti, Serco’s Space Managing Director for Europe, emphasised the academy’s commitment to shaping the future of the space industry, stating: “We are creating a world-class training hub that draws on our expertise and operational history in the space sector.”
Amar Vora, Head of Space for Serco Middle East, noted: “The launch of Serco’s Space Academy is a testament to our commitment to supporting space initiatives in the Middle East. By empowering local professionals with access to world-class training and expertise, we enable them to take on leading roles in the rapidly growing space sector.”
Serco’s Space Academy invites applications from aspiring space professionals in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The academy’s programme caters to advanced university students and seasoned professionals in the space industry across public and private sectors.
Training is adaptable to various expertise levels, combining hands-on experience with theoretical knowledge to ensure practical application in real-world contexts. Additionally, the programme can be customised for organisations aiming to enhance their workforce skills, providing tailored solutions that address the specific needs of their teams.
