Spirit Of Ecstasy Challenge show held in Abu Dhabi
The event featured three artists’ works
The Rolls-Royce Arts Programme introduced the inaugural exhibition of Spirit of Ecstasy Challenge artworks in Abu Dhabi. Three esteemed artists unveiled textile masterpieces inspired by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and its emblematic Spirit of Ecstasy figurine.
The exhibition, held at the Cultural Foundation in the UAE capital from March 17 to 19, 2024, showcased Bi Rongrong, Ghizlane Sahli, and Scarlett Yang’s diverse interpretations.1
One of the commissioned artists, Ghizlane Sahli, graced the exhibition’s opening, personally unveiling her captivating creation to a select audience.
Each artist’s work exemplified a distinct approach, resonating with the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars‘ ethos of innovation and artisanry. From intricate sculptures to immersive installations, the artworks encapsulated the essence of the Spirit of Ecstasy in unique textile forms.

The Spirit of Ecstasy Challenge, curated by an esteemed jury including luminaries such as Yoon Ahn and Tim Marlow, aimed to explore boundless creativity in materials and artisanry.
Each artist was tasked with interpreting the Spirit of Ecstasy symbol using textiles, reflecting Rolls-Royce’s commitment to innovation in design.
The resulting artworks, from immersive installations to intricate sculptures, showcased the artists’ ingenuity and the allure of the Spirit of Ecstasy.
Ghizlane Sahli’s ‘Nissa’s Rina (Woman’s Song) celebrated femininity and freedom, utilising salvaged materials to craft wing-like structures reminiscent of the Spirit of Ecstasy.
Bi Rongrong’s ‘Stitched Urban Skin’ intricately layered metal sheets pay homage to urban landscapes and the artisanry of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
Scarlett Yang’s ‘Transient Materiality’ fused synthetic biopolymers with natural elements, creating an ethereal sculpture suspended in air, reminiscent of the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy.
The exhibition showcased the three artists’ artistic prowess and underscored the automaker’s commitment to fostering creativity and innovation.
As the curtains drew on this mesmerising display, attendees departed with a renewed appreciation for the intersection of art, artisanry, and automotive excellence.
