Statement by Ahmad bin Meshar Al Muhairi

UAE, Dubai, 6 August 2023:

“The Accession Day of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is a day that will forever be etched in the nation’s collective memory. It is a momentous occasion of profound patriotic significance that allows us to reflect on the remarkable virtues of a visionary leader, who forged a distinctive path in leadership and, together with his fellow founding fathers of the Union – may they all rest in peace, worked tirelessly to build the UAE, a nation founded on unity and solidarity.

Today, we rekindle our deep sense of pride in the UAE’s exceptional accomplishments along the ambitious path to development charted by our founding father. This is primarily thanks to the numerous initiatives successfully implemented to allocate UAE resources towards the welfare and prosperity of the people, enhance the UAE’s international standing, and consolidate its leadership role in various fields.

By commemorating this day, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to upholding the values and embracing the visionary outlook of our founding father, particularly in regards to sustainability. The UAE has embraced sustainability as an integral part of the social and institutional culture, as exemplified by the proclamation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, designating 2023 as the ‘Year of Sustainability’ for our nation.

We, at the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai, take great pride in participating in the nation’s celebration of the Accession Day of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace. We remain resolute in our dedication to crafting a robust and advanced legislative system that supports the sustainable development drive of our beloved nation, drawing inspiration from our visionary founding father.”
