Statement by H.E. Mariam Mohammed Al Rumaithi, on International Women’s Day
H.E. Mariam Mohammed Al Rumaithi, the Director General of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), highlighted Emirati women’s multifarious achievements across diverse development pathways, led by the wise leadership’s enduring efforts in this regard, spearheaded by H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the UAE. These initiatives aim to empower women and lead them towards a prosperous tomorrow, assisting them in reaching high positions across various sectors, making them key partners of growth, and contributors to the nation’s advancement.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Her Excellency said: “The exemplary success achieved by Emirati women in diverse sectors, over the past few decades, would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our wise leadership, and the long-standing efforts of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, ‘Mother of the Nation,’ President of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and Chairwoman of Motherhood and Childhood Supreme Council. As a visionary leader, Her Highness has supported and guided Emirati women, even prior to the establishment of the union. This has helped nurture an environment that is conducive to the growth of women, enabling them to overcome key challenges, realise their aspirations, and attain high-level positions in various sectors.”
H.E. Al Rumaithi commended the remarkable achievements of Emirati women, which reflects the nation’s commitment to promoting their development. Her Excellency also noted that Emirati women successfully balance their professional responsibilities as well as personal roles, both of which require great time and effort, in a society that expects them to perform well in both areas. H.E. Al Rumaithi stated that this is further demonstrated by their active presence in diverse disciplines, led by greater access to various leadership and professional roles, positioning them as role models for future generations.
Her Excellency further remarked that FDF strives to consolidate women’s role in society as critical enablers of family formation and stability. H.E. Al Rumaithi also stated that FDF spearheads initiatives to empower women, in line with the vision and guidance of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, ‘Mother of the Nation’, aimed at empowering and supporting women in all aspects of life, while providing them with the necessary opportunities to improve their skills and prepare them for leadership positions in various disciplines. Moreover, Her Excellency said that the foundation aims to nurture a supportive environment that enables women to succeed professionally, while balancing personal roles, by offering them flexible solutions, and bolstering their role as architects of the future.
