Tripadvisor community votes Dubai the best travel destination in 2024

Bali and London place second and third, respectively

Travellers participating in the annual Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards for global destinations have voted Dubai emirate to the number one spot in the Best of the Best 2024 category, followed by Bali in the second and London in the third slot respectively.

According to Tripadvisor – the world’s largest travel guidance platform – Dubai has now won the top ranking for the third year.

A total of 13.90 million people visited Dubai between January and October 2023, according to Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, with Indians topping the listing at two million arrivals into the Gulf emirate. 11.40 million travellers landed in Dubai in 2022, preceded by 13.50 million in 2019, minus the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021.

Massachusetts-headquartered Tripadvisor determined the Travellers’ Choice 2024 winners based on the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings posted on Tripadvisor between October 2022 and September 2023.

The Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice awards recognise travellers’ favourite destinations, hotels, restaurants, things to do, and more based on the reviews and opinions collected from travellers and diners worldwide on Tripadvisor.

The 2024 Travellers’ Choice awards comprise two categories: Best of the Best and Travellers’ Choice.

Best of the Best category

Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best is Tripadvisor’s highest honour, factoring the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings, and ranks the very best accommodations, destinations, beaches, restaurants, and things to do in specific categories and geographic areas as rated and reviewed by travellers.

Less than 1% of Tripadvisor’s eight million listings are awarded Best of the Best, signifying the highest level of excellence in travel.

Travellers’ Choice category

The Travellers’ Choice classification recognises businesses that consistently earn great reviews. This category highlights select accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently demonstrate a commitment to hospitality excellence.

Tripadvisor noted: “The 2024 winners celebrate everything we did last year—all the places we discovered and all the time we just said ‘yes’ to new adventures.”
