Which US police force has ordered 4 Airbus helicopters?

Including H160 and H145 models
The New York State Police has ordered an Airbus H160 helicopter and three H145 models, making it the first law enforcement agency in the United States to integrate the H160 into its fleet. This marks a significant upgrade for the agency, which had previously ordered two H145 helicopters in 2024 as part of its broader effort to modernise its aviation capabilities.
Founded in 1931, the New York State Police Aviation Unit is crucial in supporting police operations throughout the state. In addition to its primary law enforcement duties, the unit is responsible for lifesaving operations and environmental conservation efforts.
“This strategic acquisition sets a new benchmark for law enforcement aviation,” said Bart Reijnen, Head of the North America region at Airbus Helicopters.
“The H160, with its advanced technology, offers the highest standards of innovation and operational safety, providing superior comfort for officers and the public. These additions to the New York State Police fleet will significantly enhance their capabilities and contribute to quieter, more environmentally friendly operations across the state.”
The Airbus H160 is recognised as one of the most technologically advanced helicopters globally. Designed to meet the highest safety standards, the H160 also prioritises comfort, making it a standout in its class.
The H160 is versatile and capable of performing various missions, including law enforcement, offshore transportation, search and rescue, emergency medical services, and private aviation. It is already in service in Brazil, Canada, France, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
In addition to the H160, the New York State Police has ordered three H145 helicopters. The H145 family has become a trusted workhorse for law enforcement agencies worldwide. With over 1,740 units in service and more than 200 dedicated to public service and law enforcement, the H145 has earned a reputation for its exceptional reliability and capability in demanding environments.
Two Safran Arriel 2E engines power the H145, which is equipped with the state-of-the-art Helionix digital avionics suite and full authority digital engine control (FADEC). These features contribute to the aircraft’s impressive performance and operational efficiency. Additionally, the H145 boasts the lowest CO2 emissions in its class, making it an environmentally conscious choice for law enforcement and public service missions.
The H160 and H145 will significantly boost the New York State Police’s fleet, which is now positioned at the forefront of technological innovation in law enforcement aviation. Introducing these helicopters will help the agency better serve the public, enhance operational safety, and improve overall mission effectiveness.
