Dubai is Set to Promote Biometric Authentication for Residency and Foreign Affairs Relations in the Country
Dubai recently announced that the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) would provide all its services through online platforms, specifically biometric authentication. As soon as all things necessary are put in place, residents can steer clear of physical verification processes when going in and out of the country.
Why has Dubai Implemented a Foreign Affairs Biometric Authentication System?
In a recent announcement, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) stated its decision to provide all foreign affairs-related services online through facial biometric recognition. This move aims to provide easy visa application mechanisms, and the government intends that all these services be done and supplied via smartphones.
Although the director of the GDRFA biometric authentication project, Fatima Salem Al Mazroui, has rightly stated that there is no fixed timeframe for the project launch, the ministry has a hands-on-deck approach for the project to be achieved soon as intended.
