Dubai, UAE Emirates has revised its Skywards Miles policy, announcing that children aged eight and below are no longer eligible to redeem First Class Classic Rewards or Upgrade Rewards.
The change means that while passengers can still use their Skywards Miles to book Classic Rewards flights on Emirates or flydubai starting from 5,000 Miles younger travellers cannot be upgraded to First Class through the loyalty programme. Classic Rewards allow members to cover the full fare excluding taxes using Miles, with options to select between Saver and Flex Plus fares.
Similarly, Upgrade Rewards which usually allow passengers to move to a higher cabin class from just 7,020 Miles will not apply to children in this age group. Parents can still purchase First Class tickets for their children using cash or card payments.
Emirates Skywards remains one of the largest airline loyalty programmes worldwide with more than 35 million members. The programme continues to grow rapidly with seven new members joining every minute. On average one passenger secures an upgrade every minute while about 100,000 Miles-earning transactions are processed daily.
Emirates continues to lead as the world’s largest international airline carrying 53.7 million passengers in the 2024-25 financial year. This represented a 3 per cent increase compared to the previous year with seat capacity also rising by 4 per cent over the same period.
