A warning has been issued by the NMC regarding fog, blowing dust and increasingly high sea tides.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), fluctuating weather conditions will prevail over the UAE in the coming days. These fluctuating weather conditions include lower temperatures, periods of intense fog, strong winds and high sea tides, resulting in rough sea conditions.
The NCM explained that the rough weather conditions are due to a weak surface low-pressure system from the east accompanied by a high-pressure system from the west, along with a weak upper-air low-pressure system.
As of today, the conditions are fairly good and partly cloudy, with low clouds being witnessed over the islands and some northern and eastern areas. Humidity is expected overnight and over Tuesday morning in some coastal and internal areas, with chances of slight fog or mist. Winds can be expected to be light to moderately strong, whereas sea conditions are expected to be slight in the Arabian Gulf as well as the Oman Sea.
Tuesday will witness similar conditions, with fair to partly cloudy skies and a slight chance of fog or mist in the early hours of the day. Winds are expected to be southeasterly to northeasterly. Winds will be fresh at times, with speeds reaching up to 35 km/h, while seas will remain low tide.
On Wednesday, humidity will prevail throughout the day as well as into the night, especially in the northern areas, with the possibility of mist formation. Winds are expected to shift from southeasterly to northwesterly and gain strength and speed at times, reaching up to 40 km/h. Thursday morning will witness a change in sea conditions, with the sea tide in the Arabian Gulf becoming moderate to rough.
Thursday will bring about a more conspicuous change with a drop in temperatures and strengthening unstable conditions. Winds will become rough and strong, particularly over the sea, raising dust and sand and, due to this, horizontal visibility is expected to decrease in exposed areas. Winds are expected to get stronger, with speeds possibly increasing up to 50 km/h, whereas seas are expected to become rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf, while remaining moderate to rough in the Oman Sea.
Friday has been forecast to witness falling temperatures, with strong northwesterly winds raising dust and sand in exposed areas and, in turn, decreasing horizontal visibility. Winds are expected to get stronger on Friday, with speeds reaching up to 55 km/h, with very rough and rough sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea, respectively.
In view of the fluctuating and unstable weather conditions, residents have been advised to remain alert, especially during early morning hours when fog may reduce visibility, as well as later in the week when rough sea conditions and strong winds could cause damage to motorists and people engaged in marine activities.
