UAE urges residents to follow safety guidelines during emergency alerts

The UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has urged residents to strictly follow official safety instructions whenever warning sirens or alert messages are issued, stressing that the system is designed solely to protect lives.

Authorities said the alerts form part of the country’s national emergency response framework and should be taken seriously by the public. Residents are advised to immediately move to a safe location and remain there until authorities announce that the situation is safe.

NCEMA warned that some individuals have been leaving their homes or stopping their vehicles to take photos or record videos after hearing the warning sirens. Officials stressed that such behaviour can endanger lives and disrupt public safety efforts.

“The warning is issued for your safety,” the authority said, urging residents to act quickly and responsibly when alerts are activated.

Motorists who receive alerts while driving are advised to continue their journey until they reach their destination and then proceed directly to the nearest designated safe shelter.

The authority also cautioned that failing to follow safety directives could lead to legal accountability, emphasising the importance of public cooperation during emergency situations.

NCEMA reiterated its call for residents to support national safety measures by complying with all official instructions to help protect themselves and the wider community.
