His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has reviewed progress on the Al Mamzar Beaches project, a major coastal development under Dubai’s AED3 billion beach master plan aimed at expanding public beachfront capacity and enhancing tourism infrastructure.
The project, led by Dubai Municipality, involves an investment of AED500 million and is positioned as a flagship family-friendly destination. During the tour, Sheikh Mohammed was joined by senior officials including Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Speaking during the visit, Sheikh Mohammed said the broader beach development plan is aligned with Dubai’s long-term vision to become the world’s best city to live in by 2040, with a target to increase beach capacity by 170%. He noted that the Al Mamzar project, nearing completion, spans around 4 million square feet and is expected to accommodate up to 7 million visitors annually.
Officials highlighted that the development forms part of a wider portfolio of beachfront projects across Dubai, including Jumeirah and Jebel Ali, as the emirate continues to upgrade its coastline into world-class urban and tourism hubs.
According to Marwan bin Ghalita, the project integrates modern infrastructure, sustainability features, and smart technologies to improve visitor experience and safety. Advanced systems powered by artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things are being deployed to enhance beach operations and emergency response.
The Al Mamzar Beaches project will include 35 leisure and service facilities, all designed to meet international standards and ensure accessibility for people of determination. Authorities expect a 500% increase in service capacity, alongside more than 65 investment opportunities across retail, dining, and recreational sectors.
Among its key attractions is the region’s first 24/7 women-only beach with night swimming facilities, as well as a floating walkway at Al Mamzar Lagoon. The destination will also feature over 5.5 kilometres of walking, running, and cycling tracks connecting the lagoon, corniche, and Al Mamzar Beach Park.
The lagoon area will cover 2.75 million square feet, offering water sports zones, children’s play areas, gyms, and shaded beachfront spaces. Meanwhile, the corniche section, spanning 1.25 million square feet, will cater to visitors seeking more private and premium beach experiences.
The development aligns with Dubai’s broader strategies, including the Quality of Life Strategy 2033 and the 2040 Urban Master Plan, aimed at improving public spaces, promoting healthy lifestyles, and strengthening the city’s global appeal.
Dubai Municipality said the destination is expected to open soon, marking another milestone in the emirate’s ongoing efforts to enhance its coastal infrastructure and tourism offering.
