One seafarer has died and several others were injured after two crude oil tankers operated by ADNOC Logistics and Services (ADNOC L&S) were struck by projectiles while transiting the Strait of Hormuz in the early hours of Tuesday.

The company confirmed that its Al Bahyah and Mombasa B vessels sustained significant damage during the incident on July 14 and said it is working closely with emergency response teams and relevant authorities. ADNOC L&S did not disclose the number of injured crew members or provide details on the severity of their injuries.

In a statement, the company expressed condolences following the fatality.

“Tragically, one seafarer lost his life, and several others were injured as a result of these attacks. The Company extends its deepest condolences to the family, loved ones and colleagues of the deceased and wishes those injured a full and speedy recovery.”

Al Bahyah, an ADNOC L&S-owned Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), and Mombasa B, which is operated by the company under a time-charter agreement, were both passing through the strategic Strait of Hormuz when they came under attack.

VLCCs are among the world’s largest crude oil carriers and play a critical role in transporting oil to international markets, making any disruption in the region significant for global energy trade.

ADNOC L&S strongly condemned the attack, describing it as an assault on civilian shipping and the seafarers working aboard its vessels.

The company has not yet revealed the current locations of the damaged tankers, whether any oil spill occurred, or additional operational impacts resulting from the incident.

ADNOC L&S said further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
