Abu Dhabi, 2 November 2026: CANNON Artes has been awarded a new contract for the engineering and supply of an advanced water treatment plant for the Shuqaiq Power Plant, a large-scale 3GW combined-cycle gas-fired power project in Saudi Arabia.
The project is being delivered for EPC contractors Orascom Construction and Técnicas Reunidas, with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) as the final client. Located in the Jizan region on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast, the new power plant will contribute to meeting the Kingdom’s growing electricity demand and strengthening the reliability of its power generation infrastructure.
The award marks a further step in CANNON Artes’ long-standing collaboration with Orascom Construction and Técnicas Reunidas. The partnership builds on the successful execution and performance of CANNON Artes’ water treatment systems for the Hajr Expansion power project, demonstrating the company’s ability to deliver reliable water treatment solutions for large-scale power generation facilities under demanding operating conditions.
For the Shuqaiq project, CANNON Artes will provide a high-performance water treatment system designed to supply the quality of water required for the plant’s different operational needs. The solution will combine advanced membrane-based technologies to ensure reliable production of treated water while optimising efficiency, operational stability and resource use.
As water availability and quality become increasingly critical to the development of energy infrastructure in water-stressed regions, robust water treatment systems are an essential component of modern power plants. By integrating desalination, water purification and polishing technologies, CANNON Artes supports power producers and EPC contractors in securing a reliable water supply throughout the plant lifecycle.
“This new project represents an important continuation of our collaboration with Orascom Construction and Técnicas Reunidas,” said Mauro Monti, Area Manager at CANNON Artes. “The experience gained at Hajr has created a strong foundation for this new cooperation. We are pleased to contribute once again to a major power infrastructure project in Saudi Arabia with a water treatment solution engineered to meet demanding performance and reliability requirements.”
The Shuqaiq project further strengthens CANNON Artes’ presence in Saudi Arabia and its positioning as a technology partner for complex water treatment applications in the power and energy sectors. The company provides integrated solutions covering process and detail engineering, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, testing and delivery, allowing water treatment systems to be tailored to the specific requirements of each industrial application.
With an established track record across the power generation, oil & gas, fertilizers, downstream and petrochemical sectors, CANNON Artes continues to support the development of industrial infrastructure where reliable and efficient water management is a critical part of overall plant performance.
