The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority has signed a landmark cooperation agreement with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the UAE’s largest industrial company outside the oil and gas sector, to elevate fire safety practices and boost emergency response efficiency across the Al Taweelah Industrial Area.
The new partnership builds on years of collaboration between both entities and establishes a comprehensive framework for joint training, technical knowledge exchange, and the adoption of advanced fire prevention and emergency management standards.
Brigadier Salem Abdullah bin Barak Al Dhaheri described the agreement as a major step in enhancing strategic cooperation between government and industry, noting that EGA’s leadership in the national industrial sector makes it a vital partner in advancing public safety. “This partnership underscores our shared commitment to fostering a culture of safety and readiness within key economic facilities,” he said.
Colonel Dr. Faisal Hassan Al Qahtani, Acting Director of the Civil Protection Sector, added that the agreement is the first of its kind between the Authority and a leading industrial entity in Abu Dhabi. “It represents a model of integrated cooperation that strengthens emergency response capabilities and operational readiness in line with the highest international standards,” he said, highlighting its potential as a benchmark for future collaborations in the emirate.
Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Global Aluminium, expressed pride in the partnership, saying: “For decades, EGA has maintained its own Fire and Rescue service to handle emergencies across our sites. Through this agreement, we aim to enhance our already advanced capabilities and share best practices with Abu Dhabi Civil Defence to strengthen collective resilience.”
EGA operates one of the UAE’s most advanced industrial fire safety and emergency response systems, with fully equipped fire stations at its Al Taweelah and Jebel Ali facilities. Each station is staffed by a specialized team of 72 firefighters, including four women, maintaining 24/7 readiness and a five-minute maximum response time to any emergency.
The company’s systems adhere to the UAE Fire and Life Safety Code of Practice and leading international firefighting standards, reinforcing its position as a national leader in industrial safety.
The new agreement expands ongoing cooperation between the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority and EGA, aligning with the UAE’s vision to ensure safe, sustainable, and resilient industrial environments that support the nation’s long-term economic and developmental goals.
