In a major step toward cleaner urban transport, ADNOC Distribution and Terra Tech Ltd. have unveiled Abu Dhabi’s first battery-swapping station for electric motorbikes, paving the way for faster, greener mobility solutions across the emirate.
Located at one of ADNOC’s flagship service stations, the new facility allows riders to replace depleted batteries with fully charged ones in seconds, eliminating lengthy charging times and reducing carbon emissions. The innovation is particularly significant for the capital’s rapidly growing last-mile delivery sector, where time efficiency and sustainability are key.
Powering the Future of Last-Mile Delivery
The station aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles among delivery and logistics companies by improving fleet uptime and cutting operational costs. Instead of waiting for bikes to charge, delivery riders can now continue their routes almost instantly a move expected to dramatically boost productivity across the sector.
“Expanding into Abu Dhabi is a pivotal step in Terra Tech’s journey to build future-ready electric mobility infrastructure across the UAE,” said Husam Zammar, Founder of Terra Tech Ltd. “ADNOC Distribution’s nationwide network provides the ideal foundation to bring clean, efficient mobility solutions directly to riders and communities.”
ADNOC’s Role in Enabling Clean Transport
As a strategic partner, ADNOC Distribution is leveraging its extensive service station network to integrate sustainable technologies that align with the UAE’s broader climate and innovation goals.
“By hosting battery-swapping technology at ADNOC service stations, we are creating a bridge between traditional and electric transport models,” said a company spokesperson. “This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to building a cleaner, smarter mobility ecosystem that supports the UAE’s Net Zero ambitions.”
Boosting Abu Dhabi’s E-Mobility Vision
The launch supports Abu Dhabi Mobility’s target for 50% of vehicles to be electric by 2040, contributing directly to the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 strategy. ADNOC and Terra Tech plan to expand the battery-swapping network across the emirate, offering a faster, more accessible, and sustainable solution for delivery fleets and other urban transport providers.
With this rollout, Abu Dhabi joins the ranks of global cities adopting innovative, low-emission mobility models positioning the UAE at the forefront of the region’s clean transport revolution.
