The Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has rolled out a new city-wide awareness campaign to combat the issue of abandoned vehicles, boats, and equipment left in public spaces.
Running under the slogan “Our Home, Our Responsibility – Our Neighbourhoods, Our Identity,” the initiative aims to educate the public about the importance of preserving Abu Dhabi’s visual appeal and urban integrity, while reinforcing adherence to municipal regulations.
The campaign forms part of DMT’s broader efforts to maintain the capital’s clean, safe, and sustainable environment — a key pillar of Abu Dhabi’s long-term vision for enhanced livability and community well-being.
Officials said the campaign highlights the negative consequences of neglecting vehicles or parking them haphazardly in residential or public areas. Such behaviour not only spoils the city’s aesthetic but also creates inconvenience for residents and harms the environment.
Promoting civic responsibility
Through this initiative, the Municipality seeks to instil a stronger sense of civic duty among residents and organisations. It encourages the public to cooperate with authorities, report abandoned items, and play an active role in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of their neighbourhoods.
As part of the drive, field teams conducted tours across key areas to engage directly with residents and explain the hazards of leaving vehicles or boats unattended. Informational materials were also disseminated through DMT’s social media platforms and the Fureejna mobile app to ensure wide community outreach.
Municipal officials said the campaign has already helped raise awareness about the shared responsibility of keeping Abu Dhabi clean and beautiful. The initiative reinforces the idea that cooperation between residents and authorities is vital in preserving the emirate’s reputation as one of the world’s most attractive and sustainable cities.
