Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank) has introduced Open Finance, becoming the first Islamic bank in the country to operationalise the model under the UAE’s national Open Finance framework.

The rollout supports the Central Bank of the UAE’s AlTareq initiative, which is designed to modernise the financial sector by enabling secure data sharing and deeper digital integration across licensed institutions. The move also forms a core part of ADIB’s long-term Vision 2035 roadmap, focused on digital leadership and customer-centric banking.

Open Finance allows customers to securely connect their financial information across different institutions, offering a clearer, consolidated view of their finances. Through this model, customers can access a wider range of services, compare products more easily, and make better-informed financial decisions, all within a regulated and secure environment.

According to ADIB, the initial phase of implementation has been completed successfully, meeting all regulatory and technical requirements set by the Central Bank of the UAE. Transactions are now processed using certified application programming interfaces (APIs), ensuring data protection, reliability, and compliance.

The bank’s launch comes shortly after the UAE introduced the Nebras framework, which enables licensed banks and financial institutions to deploy Open Finance solutions in an official and secure manner. This development places the UAE among leading global markets such as the UK and Singapore, where Open Finance is already reshaping the delivery of financial services.

ADIB said it plans to build on this foundation by expanding Open Finance-enabled customer journeys in the coming phases. The focus will be on improving transparency, simplifying financial management, and delivering a more seamless digital banking experience across accounts, products, and institutions.

The initiative reinforces ADIB’s position at the forefront of digital Islamic banking in the region, while supporting the UAE’s broader ambition to create a more connected, innovative, and data-driven financial ecosystem.
