ALEC Group Donates 5,000 Care Packages For Ramadan
Needy Communities In Gaza And UAE Benefit
The Dubai-based ALEC Group has donated 5,000 care packages valued at AED140,000 to a Ramadan initiative in the UAE involving Emirates Red Crescent and SmartLife Foundation.
ALEC Group employees donated to the initiative, which benefited vulnerable populations in Gaza and labourers in Dubai. The employees’ efforts, combined with the company’s matching donation of AED70,000, supported the Emirates Red Crescent’s Tarahum—for Gaza’ UAE Relief Campaign to People affected by War in Gaza’ and SmartLife Foundation’s Ramadan distribution projects in the UAE.
Furthermore, extending their support to subcontractor partners, ALEC Group distributed 1,100 care hampers to labourers working at ALEC, ALEMCO, ALEC FITOUT, and ALEC Energy sites across Dubai.
The spirit of compassion and volunteerism was palpable as over 800 ALEC Group employees, alongside third-party consultants and subcontractor partners, donated dry food and hygiene products.
Thirty ALEC employees volunteered to collect, package, and distribute these essential items, collaborating with SmartLife volunteers to reach labourers’ accommodation in Dubai.
Barry Lewis, CEO of ALEC, said: “The success of an organisation should not be measured by its revenues alone but must also factor in the impact it makes in enriching the communities it serves.
“Through our operations, initiatives and values, ALEC strives to be a beacon of positive change. This culture permeates our entire workforce, and we take immense pride in matching the impressive amount our employees have raised for these vital aid efforts.”
Abhijeet Oak, Vice President at SmartLife Foundation, added: “As ALEC has demonstrated, organisations have an immense ability to rally support from employees and direct efforts towards community initiatives and charitable causes.
“While Ramadan and Eid present the perfect opportunity, community projects are being conducted year-round and there is no ‘minimum entry-point’ for such good work. I strongly encourage companies of all sizes to consider following suit in whatever capacity they can.”
