Asian Paints Launches CureAssure: The World’s First Internal Curing Concrete Additive

Asian Paints, one of Asia’s most respected names in construction solutions, has announced the launch of CureAssure – the world’s first internal curing concrete additive. This patented, groundbreaking innovation is engineered to eliminate the need for traditional external curing, offering potential water savings of up to eight billion litres annually in the UAE. Purpose-built for the region’s extreme climate and sustainability mandates, CureAssure marks a pivotal step forward in performance, consistency, and environmental responsibility for concrete construction.

“With CureAssure, we’re not just launching a product; we’re redefining a foundational step in construction. This innovation reflects our commitment to sustainable solutions that work in the real world.” said Mr. Joseph Eapen, CEO of Asian Paints.

Transforming a Critical Step in Construction

Curing is one of the most overlooked yet critical steps in concrete construction, directly influencing strength, durability, and long-term performance. On-site challenges such as extreme weather, compressed project timelines, and labour dependency often lead to ineffective curing, resulting in shrinkage cracks and compromised structural integrity.

CureAssure, a patented innovation by Asian Paints, revolutionises this process by embedding hydration directly within the concrete mix, enabling continuous and uniform curing from within. It eliminates the need for external water curing or surface curing compounds. This internal curing technology minimises plastic shrinkage and concrete cracking, enhances the durability of concrete, and promotes sustainable construction by conserving water, reducing carbon impact, and ensuring consistent strength development across diverse site conditions. Importantly, concrete performance parameters at the site match those designed and validated in the laboratory, ensuring reliability and predictability in real-world applications.

“Developing CureAssure meant rethinking curing from the inside out,” said Mr. Amit DasGupta, Chief Senior Manager – Technology, AP Global. “Rather than treating symptoms on the surface, we focused on solving the root cause, by embedding water availability directly where it’s needed. The result is a more robust, reliable concrete structure, regardless of the environment it’s placed in.”

Regionally Approved and Globally Aligned

CureAssure is approved by Dubai Municipality and validated by ICC-ES. It contains no hazardous substances and is safe to use with standard construction industry precautions. It is compatible with all types of Portland cement, concretes with pozzolanic materials, and all types of WR and SR admixtures. It is fully aligned with globally recognised specification frameworks, including ACI 308 Internal Curing Guidelines, ACI 318 Structural Durability Provisions, ASTM C494/C494M Type S Admixture Standards and EN 934-2 European Admixture Compatibility Standards.

Driving Sustainability in Line with National Goals

Aligned with the UAE Water Security Strategy 2036, CureAssure eliminates the need for desalinated water in curing, directly reducing the environmental burden of construction. The annual water saved through its adoption could fill 3,200 Olympic-sized swimming pools, irrigate over 6,000 acres of desert land, or meet the monthly water needs of 450,000 households.

Moreover, CureAssure supports zero-waste, low-carbon construction practices by reducing water transport, manpower dependency, and curing-related emissions – all while enhancing long-term structural durability.

A Legacy of Innovation, Expanded to the Middle East

With over 80 years of leadership in coatings and construction technologies, Asian Paints is one of the top two paint companies in Asia, supported by 26 manufacturing facilities across 15 countries and a portfolio of 150+ patents. The launch of CureAssure further expands its regional construction solutions footprint, reaffirming its commitment to building smarter, safer, and more sustainable infrastructure in the GCC.
