Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 17 July 2026 – Barraquer Eye Hospital UAE has announced the launch of its new community-focused awareness initiative, “We Care,” available for a limited time, aimed at increasing public awareness about keratoconus and encouraging early detection to help protect long-term eye health and vision quality.
As part of the initiative, the hospital will host Keratoconus Care Day every Wednesday, offering complimentary screenings and consultations designed to help individuals identify potential signs of the condition and seek timely medical advice from eye care specialists.
Keratoconus is a progressive eye condition that causes the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye, to gradually thin and bulge into a cone-like shape. This distortion can lead to blurred vision, increased sensitivity to light, and difficulties performing everyday activities such as reading, driving, and using digital devices. While the condition often develops during the teenage years or early adulthood, many individuals remain unaware they have keratoconus until their vision becomes significantly affected.
“Many people assume that frequent changes in their eyeglass prescription or blurred vision are normal, when in fact these may be early signs of keratoconus,” said the medical team at Barraquer Eye Hospital UAE. “Through the ‘We Care’ initiative, we want to educate the community about the importance of early screening and provide access to advanced diagnostic assessments that can help detect the condition before it progresses.”
The “We Care” initiative reflects Barraquer Eye Hospital UAE’s commitment to raising awareness about keratoconus and empowering the community with knowledge about the condition. By encouraging regular eye examinations and early screening, the hospital aims to help individuals better understand the importance of timely diagnosis and ongoing monitoring.
