Coffee Planet and Victoria Arduino Host the Summer Latte Art Throwdown 2024

Coffee Planet, in collaboration with long-term partner Victoria Arduino, proudly hosted the Summer Latte Art Throwdown on May 8th, 2024. This event celebrated the art and skill of baristas while strengthening community ties within the coffee industry.

Held at the Victoria Arduino Experience Lab, the event featured two exciting phases of competition. In the first phase, baristas of all levels showcased their latte art talents in head-to-head matchups, judged on clarity and precision. The second phase saw acclaimed “all-star” baristas compete against each other, offering a thrilling display of expertise and innovation.

The event, organized by Coffee Planet, was joined by friends from across the coffee community, including an esteemed panel of judges: Federico Ortile from Victoria Arduino, Cris John Signey Benavente from Blacksmith Coffee Company, Goutham K.S. from Brewing Gadgets, Frederick Bejo from Archers, and Mon Alpas from Gold Box Roastery. The competition’s energy was elevated by the dynamic MC duo, Kiah Parangue from Gold Box Roastery and Romeo Perello from Coffee Planet. Their enthusiastic and engaging presence was a highlight, greatly enhancing the enjoyment and excitement of the event for everyone involved.

Notably, more than 170 participants from various cafes and roasteries across the UAE registered for the event, showcasing the vibrant and diverse coffee culture in the region. In a gesture of community support, all the coffee prepared using Coffee Planet’s 100% Arabica specialty blend, during the competition, was transformed into iced coffee and distributed to delivery riders in the surrounding area, ensuring nothing went to waste and everyone could enjoy the fruits of the competition.

Coffee Planet is also excited to announce that another Latte Art Throwdown will be hosted in Abu Dhabi during the summer. In the meantime, baristas and all coffee lovers are welcome to visit Coffee Planet’s recently opened, state-of-the-art location at Etihad Plaza, which features a corporate office, showroom, café, and an SCA-accredited training facility. This new venue in our capital city aims to serve as a hub for coffee enthusiasts and aspiring baristas to refine their skills and immerse themselves in the world of specialty coffee.

“By co-hosting this event with Victoria Arduino, we aim to deepen our partnership and demonstrate our mutual commitment to the coffee industry,” said Jamie Brown, CEO of Ludlow Coffee Group. “This competition not only highlighted the incredible talent within our community but also reinforced our dedication to barista education and excellence. It was wonderful to have friends and colleagues from across the coffee community come together in one place for such a vibrant event.”
