Dollar Car Rental UAE was a major exhibitor at the Arabian Travel Market 2025, held in Dubai from April 28 to May 1, 2025. With one of the UAE’s largest and most diverse rental car fleets, the Zabeel Rent A Car licensee is a significant player in the fast-paced market.
In an exclusive interview at the Arabian Travel Market 2025, Marwan Al Mulla, General Manager of Dollar Car Rental in Dubai and Oman, highlighted the company’s latest developments.
Excerpts from the interview:
What is Dollar Car Rental UAE up to in 2025?
Every year, we participate in various events where we introduce new offerings, and this year is no different. We are excited to launch our monthly subscription model, a game-changer for Car rental.
This model offers a stress-free way to rent a car every month with no long-term commitment, providing our customers with the convenience of driving without the hassle of a traditional lease or ownership structure. Our new monthly subscription model offers a stress-free way to rent a car every month with no long-term commitment. It’s perfect for those who want the convenience of driving without the hassle of a traditional lease or ownership structure. You can rent a car for 12, 24, or even 36 months, depending on your needs.
Plus, there is a unique option where you can lease a car and eventually own it, paying a monthly fee. This is especially useful for people moving to the UAE temporarily, like students or teachers, who do not want the hassle of buying a car or dealing with bank loans. All they need to do is pay a monthly rent, and they get to enjoy the vehicle without any huge upfront deposit. After the agreed period, they can return the car or choose to own it.

Dollar UAE is also rolling out three new services tailored to meet the diverse needs of our customers.
The first option is our Monthly Subscription, which provides a flexible, hassle-free alternative to car ownership. It is perfect for expats, business travellers, and those who wish to switch vehicles according to their lifestyle or work demands.
The second service is the Personal Lease, a long-term leasing solution for UAE residents and entrepreneurs. This all-inclusive plan simplifies owning a personal vehicle, offering a cost-effective and worry-free way to drive without hidden fees or complicated paperwork.
Lastly, we are launching Dollar Prestige, our luxury vehicles line. This lineup includes high-end models such as BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz. Whether attending a business meeting or heading out for a weekend getaway, Dollar Prestige ensures a premium, indulgent driving experience.
With your extensive experience in the regional car rental industry, how do you envision the market evolving?
I have been in the car rental industry for 22 years and have witnessed significant changes in the market. In the past, customers were more hesitant to rent cars due to concerns about safety and hidden costs.
However, car rental companies like ours today provide numerous protections and guarantees, allowing customers to rent confidently. People now recognise that they can rent a car without worrying about the risks associated with accidents or fines. The process is hassle-free, and they know they are covered.

The market is evolving towards flexibility, and we are adapting to this change. Customers no longer want to be tied down to a car they own. Instead, they prefer the convenience of renting a vehicle that fits their needs, whether for a few days or years. At Dollar UAE, we continuously expand our offerings to meet these evolving customer demands, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of the industry.
Does Dollar UAE offer electric vehicle (EV) options?
Yes, we offer EVs and can provide them for our personal lease options and short-term rentals. However, it is essential to note that although we have some EVS in our fleet, they currently comprise a small portion.
The main challenge is the UAE’s lack of adequate EV charging infrastructure. The availability of charging stations is still limited, and charging an EV can be pretty time-consuming. For instance, it can take up to 45 minutes to fully charge an EV, which is a significant inconvenience compared to refuelling an internal combustion engine car in just a few minutes.
In the UAE, most charging stations are still in malls, but parking spaces at these charging points can be occupied, making it difficult for customers to charge their EVs easily. While there is a growing push to improve the infrastructure, it will take time before EV adoption becomes mainstream in the car rental market. That being said, we are keeping an eye on this trend, and as the infrastructure improves, we expect to see a greater demand for EVs in the future.
It is exciting to see that the UAE government and various private players are making significant efforts to expand the EV infrastructure in the UAE. For example, Emarat Petroleum has a clear plan to increase the number of charging stations nationwide. This is a step in the right direction.
There is also talk about a new system allowing EVs to be charged much faster, in just five minutes rather than the current 45-minute wait. This innovation could be a game-changer for the industry, making EVs more accessible and practical for daily rentals.
As I mentioned earlier, this is a long-term development. While the infrastructure is improving, it will take time for EVs to become a mainstream option for car renters. However, the future looks promising, and we are optimistic about their potential in the car rental market. We are also keeping an eye on other potential developments in the industry, such as faster charging systems, which could further revolutionise the car rental market in the UAE.
What are the biggest challenges you face in the car rental industry in the UAE?
One of the significant challenges we face in the car rental business today is the lack of financial protection. At Dollar UAE, we strive to make the rental process as flexible as possible by not requiring large customer deposits. However, this also leaves us vulnerable to fines and late payments, which can be a significant burden. Despite these challenges, we are committed to providing our customers a seamless and worry-free rental experience.
In addition, the costs associated with maintaining a fleet of vehicles can be substantial. While we strive to provide competitive prices and high-quality service, managing a large fleet without taking a deposit from customers means we often have to absorb the cost of fines, damages, or late returns. This is one of the risks of offering such flexibility, but we have managed it through careful planning and a strong customer service team.
It seems like Dollar UAE is doing well in Dubai. What has been the key to your success?
Indeed, Dubai is a highly competitive market, and we take great pride in our progress. The cornerstone of our success has consistently been the prioritisation of customer service. We firmly believe that a satisfied customer is our most effective marketing instrument.
