Dubai Ambulance unveils AI-powered Smart First Aid Kit platform

Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services has announced plans to roll out an AI-powered “Smart First Aid Kit” as a digital platform and mobile application, aimed at strengthening public awareness of first aid and emergency response across the emirate.

Designed for residents and visitors alike, the initiative will deliver fast and reliable medical guidance through interactive digital tools. The platform focuses on preventive healthcare and practical response, helping people manage emergency situations in the critical moments before ambulance crews arrive.

Mishal Abdulkarim Julfar, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Ambulance, said community education remains a central pillar of the organisation’s mission, alongside its frontline emergency services. He explained that free first aid awareness is essential to reducing health risks and improving overall public safety.

Speaking to Emarat Al Youm, Julfar said the project reimagines the traditional first aid box as a smart, interactive system rather than a container for medical supplies alone. Using conversational AI, users will be able to describe an incident or ask questions and receive clear, step-by-step instructions on how to respond. The service will also feature explainer videos and digital simulations, making procedures easy to understand and apply.

The app will cover a broad range of scenarios, from minor injuries to serious medical emergencies at home or in the workplace. Julfar said the emphasis is on taking the right action during the crucial window before professional medical help arrives.

He noted that international first aid standards are largely stable and updated every five years, allowing the platform to offer consistent and trustworthy guidance. “Awareness and prevention are part of our responsibility,” he said. “It is not just about providing information, but ensuring it is clear, effective and accessible to everyone.” Julfar added that global experience, particularly in the United States, shows that strong community education is a vital component of effective emergency medical systems.

Addressing Dubai’s multicultural population, which includes more than 200 nationalities, the platform will support multiple languages and rely heavily on visual and audio learning tools to overcome language barriers.

Dubai Ambulance also plans to integrate the Smart First Aid Kit into schools, universities and workplaces, enabling institutions to use the system as part of regular first aid training programmes.

The initiative reflects Dubai Ambulance’s broader vision of blending innovation with emergency services, making life-saving knowledge widely accessible and reinforcing safety as a shared responsibility across society.
