Dubai has introduced a new law regulating the quality and safety of buildings across the emirate, reinforcing efforts to enhance construction standards and ensure long-term structural integrity in the city’s rapidly growing urban landscape.
The legislation was issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The new framework aims to strengthen oversight of building quality, improve safety requirements, and ensure that construction practices meet the highest standards throughout the emirate.
The law is designed to regulate various aspects of building safety, including structural quality, compliance with approved engineering standards, and adherence to safety procedures during construction and throughout a building’s lifecycle.
By introducing clearer regulatory measures, the law seeks to enhance accountability among developers, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders involved in construction projects. Authorities say the move will support Dubai’s long-term urban development strategy while safeguarding residents, property, and infrastructure.
The initiative also reflects Dubai’s broader commitment to maintaining world-class construction standards as the city continues to expand with new residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
Officials noted that strengthening building safety and quality controls will contribute to sustainable development while ensuring that Dubai’s built environment remains resilient, safe, and aligned with global best practices.
