Dubai, UAE — January 2026 — Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority successfully facilitated the movement of more than 2.8 million passengers during the New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations.

Ridership grew by 13 percent compared to the previous year, surpassing the 2.5 million passengers recorded in 2025.

The achievement was driven by an integrated traffic and operational plan, developed in coordination with the Dubai Event Security Committee and strategic partners.

The plan included traffic management and temporary road closures across the Emirate, ensuring smooth mobility and public safety.

The RTA stated that these results highlight the readiness and efficiency of Dubai’s transport system, reinforcing the city’s global reputation for hosting major events to the highest international standards.

Detailed ridership figures show the metro’s Red and Green Lines served 1,249,636 passengers, while the Dubai Tram carried 58,052. Public buses and on-demand bus services recorded 503,264 passengers. Taxis transported 661,538 people, and e-hailing services accommodated 286,135 passengers.

Marine transport carried 76,745 individuals across its various modes, and shared mobility services completed trips for 1,489 passengers.

The RTA reaffirmed that the coordinated operational plan was instrumental in ensuring safe and efficient public movement to and from celebration venues across Dubai.
