Dubai’s RTA presents a revised Strategic Plan for 2024-2030

Emirate targets 42.5% sustainable public transit by 2030

Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority has launched a revamped Strategic Plan for 2024-2030, incorporating five key goals and objectives for integrated and innovative mobility in Dubai emirate.

The plan is designed to facilitate the development of roads and transport systems that support a 20-minute city (ensuring 80% of daily services are accessible within a 20-minute journey by walking or cycling).

The plan also focuses on improving accessibility, fostering better multi-modal transport integration, expanding current and future mobility services, and charting intelligent mobility solutions in Dubai.

The plan stresses the importance of attracting, retaining, and developing talent that meets future demands. It calls for establishing an effective partnership structure and boosting R&D and innovation capabilities, transforming Dubai’s RTA into a leading data-based entity, and developing a flexible technological infrastructure.

Dubai’s RTA aims to convert 100% of taxis and limousines in Dubai emirate to electric and hydrogen vehicles by 2040 and convert the entire fleet of public transport buses into electric and hydrogen buses by 2050. The plan has set a target to push transportation on sustainable means to 42.5% in 2030.

The goals and objectives of the plan in the field of health, safety, and security include promoting transportation safety, securing assets, corporate security, and enhancing occupational health.

For customer happiness, the plan calls for developing capabilities to understand customer needs and trends, proactively create tailored innovative services, and guide and motivate customer behaviour to achieve the intended benefits of transportation networks in Dubai.

Set up in November 2005, Dubai’s RTA plans, develops, and operates all mass transit systems in Dubai emirate, including buses, taxis, metro, tram, and marine modes, as well as public parking facilities.

The Authority also enacts and implements legislation and strategic plans while developing and maintaining public roads, road traffic, rail, and marine projects across Dubai emirate.
