A Lithuanian Embassy in Abu Dhabi celebrated the Day of the Restoration of the Lithuanian Statehood with a spectacular concert by pianists Rokas and Sonata Zubovas, titled “Čiurlionis. In Pursuit of Soundscapes”.
The event, held at New York University Abu Dhabi, was attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accredited ambassadors to the UAE, business leaders, and members of the Lithuanian community in the country.
Ambassador of Lithuania to the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Ramūnas Davidonis, in his welcoming speech highlighted the growing relations between Lithuania and the Emirates. ‘The UAE and Lithuania are connected by a strategic vision, ambition and approach towards global challenges,’ said Ambassador Davidonis, Ambassador also shared the importance of Čiurlionis and his artistic legacy in the context of Lithuanian and European culture.
The unique concert ‘Čiurlionis. In Pursuit of Soundscapes’ performed by renowned Lithuanian pianists Rokas Zubovas and Sonata Zubovienė combined a range of selected works of music, art and poetry by M. K. Čiurlionis.
In 2025, the 150th anniversary of the birth of the most famous Lithuanian composer and artist, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, will be commemorated in Lithuania and around the world, and is also included in the list of anniversaries to be celebrated by UNESCO Member States.
