Emirates to fly from Dubai to Bogotá via Miami

The new route takes off on June 3, 2024

Emirates has unveiled plans to inaugurate a daily service from Dubai to Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, starting on June 3, 2024.

This groundbreaking move not only establishes a new connection between Colombia and the United Arab Emirates but also marks the first-ever link between the greater Middle East region and the northern part of the South American continent.

The introduction of this route also highlights the economic impact, with up to 20 tonnes of cargo capacity on each flight, facilitating the export of Colombian goods such as fresh flowers, fruits, and vegetables to global markets.

Daily flights

The daily services will operate from Dubai to Bogotá via Miami, a popular route between South Florida and Colombia.

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines, said: “The addition of Bogotá to our network is part of our strategy to deliver better connectivity, expand options and choice for travellers, and provide premium experiences.

“This launch underscores our deep commitment to South America, fostering increased business and leisure travel opportunities.”

The high altitude of Bogotá necessitates a stopover, and Miami was strategically selected due to its tourism and trade links with Bogotá.

Emirates will operate a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on the new Dubai- Bogotá route, with 354 seats across three cabins, featuring lie-flat seats in First Class and Business Class.

Tickets for the Dubai to Bogotá flights, starting June 3, are now available. The daily flights will offer convenient connections between Dubai, Bogotá, and Miami, with the summer schedule operating from June 3 and the winter schedule starting from November 3.

Launch service welcomed

Officials from Colombia, including Germán Umaña Mendoza, Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, and Sergio París Mendoza, Director General, Aerocivil Colombia, welcomed the launch, emphasising its significance in expanding connectivity and fostering economic development.

Visit Florida President and CEO Dana Young expressed enthusiasm about the expansion: “We are thrilled that Emirates will now connect its daily Dubai to Miami flight with Bogotá, offering additional opportunities for us to welcome Colombian travellers to the Sunshine State.”

Bogotá’s status as a major centre for tourism, education, and culture, coupled with its nickname as the ‘Athens of South America,’ positions it as a thriving destination.

While Dubai is expected to be the final destination for many travellers on this route, other top destinations include mainland China, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, Johannesburg, Cairo, and Delhi.

Emirates’ flights are scheduled to facilitate connectivity for travellers onward from Dubai, generating new passenger flows to Bogotá from high-growth markets across the globe.

Emirates already serves São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Buenos Aires. With Bogotá, the Dubai-based carrier will enhance its operations in the Americas to encompass 19 points across the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia.
