Etihad to Offer Free Medical Travel Insurance for Abu Dhabi Visitors

Etihad Airways will provide complimentary medical travel insurance to eligible international passengers flying to Abu Dhabi from July through December 2026, enhancing the travel experience for visitors to the UAE capital.

The new initiative, launched in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), will automatically include medical travel coverage of up to 15 days for qualifying travellers. Passengers will not need to submit any application, as the insurance will be included with eligible Etihad-operated flight tickets.

The offer applies to guests whose journey originates outside the UAE and whose tickets are purchased outside the country. Travellers taking advantage of Etihad’s complimentary Stopover Programme will also receive medical coverage for the duration of their stay in Abu Dhabi, subject to applicable terms and conditions.

The insurance is underwritten and managed by Daman, part of PureHealth, through The National Insurance Company.

The move is designed to simplify travel planning for international visitors while supporting Abu Dhabi’s efforts to attract more leisure and stopover tourists. Medical travel insurance is typically purchased separately before departure, but the new arrangement ensures eligible passengers receive coverage automatically as part of their booking.

Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, said the initiative reflects the emirate’s commitment to delivering a seamless visitor experience from the moment travellers book their journey.

He added that the partnership with Etihad will help set new standards for destination hospitality, ensuring visitors feel welcomed, valued and cared for throughout their stay.

The initiative further strengthens Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading global tourism destination while offering added peace of mind to international travellers.
