With highly anticipated PIT BOOST
The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is returning to Saudi Arabia for the first double-header of the season, with Rounds 3 and 4 set to take place at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit on February 14 and 15, 2025.
This marks the first time in Season 11 that the electric racing series has ventured into the Middle East for a night-time double-header. The venue has shifted from the traditional Diriyah venue to the new Jeddah Corniche Circuit layout.
The track, known for hosting some of the world’s most prestigious motorsport events, will challenge drivers with its 1.86-mile configuration, offering a fresh and exciting test for teams and competitors.
For this season, Formula E introduces the highly anticipated PIT BOOST, a return to pit stops for the first time in seven years. On Friday’s race, each driver must make a mandatory 30-second stop, during which their car will receive a 10% energy boost. This innovation adds a layer of strategic depth, enhancing the excitement of the race alongside the already thrilling ATTACK MODE, which will remain in place for both races.
After a thrilling start to Season 11, the pressure is on for Oliver Rowland, who triumphed in Round 2 and is eager to replicate his victory in front of a packed Mexico crowd. Rowland’s impressive performance has catapulted him into contention, and he will be determined to deliver another top finish in Jeddah. Meanwhile, championship leader António Félix da Costa will try to convert his two runner-up finishes into a first-place victory as the competition heats up.
The debut of the Rookie Free Practice session, which allows rising motorsport talents to showcase their skills in the latest GEN3 Evo technology, is a significant addition to this year’s event. This session is part of Formula E’s continuous drive for innovation. It is expected to highlight the next generation of racing stars, adding an extra layer of excitement for fans attending the event.
The Jeddah E-Prix will take place on a new, adapted layout of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. The world’s fastest street circuit has been specially reworked to meet the demands of Formula E racing, featuring 19 high-speed turns and four new chicanes. The revised circuit, completed in 30 days, offers a thrilling anti-clockwise challenge as it winds along the picturesque Red Sea coastline.
Saudi Arabia’s bustling coastal city of Jeddah is known for its dynamic mix of history, culture, and modern development. As the country’s commercial centre, it is the gateway for millions of pilgrims heading to Mecca. At the same time, its spectacular waterfront and thriving souks make it an exciting host city for the world’s premier electric racing series.
One key feature of this year’s races will be the introduction of PIT BOOST, which provides cars an additional 10% energy boost during a 30-second pit stop. This boost will be mandatory during selected races and add an extra dimension to the strategy. To achieve the best possible results, teams must carefully manage their energy usage, balancing PIT BOOST with ATTACK MODE.
