Honda unveils 0 SUV prototype in Tokyo to global audience

At Red Bull Showrun event
In an exciting global debut, the Honda 0 SUV prototype was showcased on April 2, 2025, at the Red Bull Showrun x Powered by Honda event in Tokyo, Japan.
The all-electric SUV, first revealed at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), was driven by Formula 1 superstar Max Verstappen, adding extra flair to the event held before the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix at the Suzuka Circuit.
The Honda 0 SUV, part of the company’s new 0 Series, is a glimpse into Honda’s future of electric vehicles (EVs), set to begin production at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio in 2026.
The Tokyo event featured F1 stars, including Yuki Tsunoda of Red Bull Racing and Red Bull Racing drivers Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar, joining Verstappen in the demonstration drive.
The occasion marked the culmination of a six-year collaboration between Honda and Red Bull Racing, during which they have collectively secured over 63 F1 victories and achieved multiple championships, including four consecutive Drivers’ World Championships for Verstappen (2021–2024) and two Constructors’ World Championships (2022 and 2023).

The Red Bull Showrun event celebrated Honda and Red Bull Racing’s monumental achievements in motorsport. Honda’s engineering prowess has played a key role in Verstappen’s dominance, contributing to one of the most successful eras in Formula 1.
At the event, the Honda 0 SUV shared the spotlight with iconic Red Bull Racing F1 machines, including the RB16B and the new 2025 livery RB7, alongside the historic Honda RA272. The RA272, a V12-powered F1 car, was the first Honda race car to win a Formula 1 Grand Prix, marking its victory at the 1965 Mexico Grand Prix—an achievement that was 60 years in the making.

This design showcases Honda’s new EV development philosophy: ‘Thin, Light, and Wise.’ This approach focuses on delivering an innovative and environmentally conscious driving experience, combining sleek design with cutting-edge technology.

The SUV’s exterior is complemented by a spacious, flexible interior that exemplifies Honda’s Thin, Light, and Wise ethos. The interior layout is designed to offer a reimagined space for people, reflecting Honda’s commitment to advancing how we experience EVs.
The Honda 0 SUV incorporates next-generation technologies and a user-friendly digital experience, powered by the Asimo OS, Honda’s proprietary operating system. This system facilitates ultra-personal optimisation, ensuring users enjoy a tailored and seamless driving experience.
The Honda 0 SUV prototype is expected to be the first model from the 0 Series to enter full-scale production. Building on the Space-Hub concept unveiled at CES 2024, this all-electric SUV promises to deliver not only a more sustainable driving solution but also a versatile and immersive experience for its users. Honda’s ‘Thin, Light, and Wise’ approach ensures that the SUV will be lightweight without compromising space, performance, or environmental impact.

Production of the Honda 0 SUV is set to take place at Honda’s EV Hub in Ohio, with the first production model slated for release in North America in 2026. The vehicle will be introduced to global markets, including Japan and Europe, following the North American launch. Honda’s move into the electric vehicle market with the 0 Series signals a bold new chapter for the automaker as it continues to innovate and redefine what it means to drive electric.
The Honda 0 SUV prototype is poised to reshape the EV landscape, and with production plans already underway, it is clear that Honda’s commitment to sustainability and technological innovation will continue to drive the automotive industry forward.
