Huawei presents Pangu Models 3.0 tech at GITEX Global 2023
ICT provider bridges the gap between technologies and industry needs
Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, used the GITEX Global 2023 platform to highlight the new Huawei Cloud Pangu Models 3.0 services.
Designed to reshape whole industries and hone technologies, Pangu Models 3.0 focuses on building core competitiveness to help Huawei’s customers, partners, and developers operationalise AI and drive actual value creation across industries.
Dr Zhu Shenggao, Vice President of AI Business for Huawei Cloud Middle East and Central Asia, delivered a keynote presentation entitled ‘Pangu Large Models Accelerating AI for Industries’ at GITEX Global 2023’s AI Everything conference on October 18, 2023.
AI to the fore
Shenggao said: “Pangu Models 3.0 bridges the gap between technologies and industry needs. With our innovative 5+X+N decoupling hierarchical architecture, we have unlocked more possibilities for all industries, reshaping AI for industries. We are thrilled to share our groundbreaking approach at AI Everything.”
Shenggao stressed that Pangu Models 3.0 comprises the first-of-its-kind commercial Arabic model trained with hundreds of billions of parameters, surpassing peer models in understanding and generation capabilities.
Pangu Models 3.0’s three-layer decoupled, hierarchical architecture of 5+X+N consists of 5 – L0 foundation models, N – L1 industry-tailored models, and X – L2 AI applications. It offers a robust foundation for a vast range of models and applications.
Pangu Models 3.0 can be deployed on both public cloud and on-premises, offering flexibility and autonomy in model creation, Shenggao added.
Shenggao continued: “Our journey is marked by a commitment to deliver cutting-edge solutions and ensure the stability and security of our services. We envision a future where AI is integral to every industry, making businesses more efficient and innovative.”
Climate change solutions
Recognising the need to address climate change and the challenges faced by the Middle East due to the region’s susceptibility to climate change, Huawei also showcased its Pangu Weather Model at its pavilion at GITEX Global 2023.
The company also demonstrated its Pangu Drug Molecule Model. This platform supports commercial services or drug pipeline development cooperation between pharmaceutical companies and research institutes.
The model reduces manufacturing costs and the time spent discovering lead compounds from several years to just one month. Huawei has also developed AI-powered Pangu models for e-government, finance, automotive, and virtual human applications.
Zhang Ping’an, Executive Director and CEO of Huawei Cloud, first announced the launch of Huawei Cloud Pangu Models 3.0 at the annual Huawei Developer Conference (HDC.Cloud 2023) held in Dongguan, China, on July 7, 2023.
Developers from across the globe attended HDC.Cloud 2023, in person or online, to discuss the booming AI industry, the new opportunities it has created, its latest applications, and its experiences working with AI.
Organised by Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), GITEX Global – the world’s largest tech and startup event – was held at the sprawling DWTC premises from October 16-20, 2023.
