Iskraemeco expands global footprint with strategic developments

Iskraemeco, based in Kranj, Slovenia, is a provider of smart metering solutions, and is making significant strides in its global expansion. Recently, the company has been involved in several key projects and strategic initiatives that underscore its commitment to innovation and sustainability.
In the United Arab Emirates, Iskraemeco has partnered with the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) to implement a comprehensive smart metering solution across their network. This collaboration aims to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency through advanced metering infrastructure.
Similarly, Iskraemeco is contributing to the modernisation of the electricity grid in Abu Dhabi by supplying modular smart meters to the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company and the Al Ain Distribution Company. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to transition to a more intelligent and responsive energy network.
Beyond the Middle East, Iskraemeco also focuses on expanding its presence in Asia. The company plans to establish a new software development centre in India. This centre will concentrate on electricity metering and data processing, reinforcing Iskraemeco’s commitment to the Indian market and its broader strategy of leveraging digital platforms for energy and water management solutions.
To strengthen its manufacturing capabilities, Iskraemeco has sold its smart meter manufacturing unit in India to Kaynes Technology India Ltd. Despite this divestment, Iskraemeco aims to maintain a presence in India through its new development centre. The sale aligns with the company’s strategy of focusing on its core competencies while exploring new avenues for growth and innovation.
Furthermore, Iskraemeco is actively involved in standardising smart metering technologies. The company has collaborated with Itron and Landis+Gyr to develop a standard for interoperable smart meters. This initiative aims to promote faster and broader deployment of advanced metering management devices and services, responding to the growing demand for open standards in the utility sector.
Through these strategic developments, Iskraemeco is positioning itself at the forefront of the global smart metering industry, driving innovation and advancing sustainable energy solutions worldwide.
