Kuwait International Airport has officially resumed airspace operations from Thursday evening, marking a gradual return to normal air traffic following recent disruptions.
The announcement was made by Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Director of the Public Authority of Civil Aviation, who confirmed that the decision was taken in coordination with international authorities to ensure operations meet the highest safety and security standards.
According to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the reopening is part of a carefully planned, phased approach aimed at restoring full airport functionality over time. Authorities are prioritising safety while gradually increasing operational capacity.
Officials also revealed that an assessment has been completed on damage caused to certain airport facilities following the recent Iranian attack and actions by affiliated armed groups. Technical teams have already started repair and maintenance work on key infrastructure and equipment.
In the initial phase, operations will be limited to selected destinations based on operational priorities. Each stage will be reviewed continuously before expanding services further, ensuring a controlled and secure return to full operations.
