Lexus posts record 2024 global sales results

851,214 units sold

Lexus has announced its 2024 global sales results, achieving a remarkable 851,214 units sold, a 103.3% increase compared to the previous year. The company attributed the exceptional growth to strong demand in key markets such as North America and Europe, alongside a recovery in the availability of parts, which supported the rise in global sales.

The new LBX and LM models received notable positive receptions in 2024, helping to bolster the brand’s market presence. Lexus’ core models, such as the RX and NX, also performed well.

Electrified vehicles, including the battery electric vehicles (BEVs) RZ and UX300e, saw robust growth, with sales increasing by 119% yearly. This surge contributed to a new milestone for Lexus: electrified vehicles accounted for 52% of total sales in 2024, marking a record high.

Breaking down regional sales, North America emerged as the most significant contributor to Lexus’s sales success. The region recorded 379,589 units sold, reflecting a 106.7% increase compared to the previous year’s 355,606 units. This robust performance underscores the growing demand for Lexus vehicles in North America, where the brand has long maintained a strong foothold.

Lexus saw a slight increase of 0.3% in overall sales in Asia, amounting to 237,335 units sold. China, a critical Lexus market, recorded 181,906 units sold, showing a modest increase of 0.3% compared to the previous year’s 181,411 units. Despite minor fluctuations, Lexus maintained a steady sales presence in the region. The East Asia market saw a slight dip, with sales of 42,872 units, marking a 2.4% decrease compared to the previous year.

Lexus’s headquarters in Japan experienced a dip in sales, with 86,070 units sold, a 9.1% decrease from the previous year. Despite the decline, Japan remains a crucial market for Lexus, with a steady customer base and high brand loyalty.

Meanwhile, Europe posted impressive growth, with a 19.3% increase in sales, amounting to 82,571 units sold, up from 69,202 in the previous year. This performance highlights Lexus’ expanding presence in the European market, where demand for premium and electrified vehicles has grown steadily.

Sales in the Middle East also showed a slight decline, with 45,013 units sold, a decrease of 3.1% from the previous year. Nevertheless, the region remains an important market for Lexus, with the brand continuing to focus on premium offerings tailored to local preferences.

Lexus President Takashi Watanabe expressed deep gratitude to its global customer base for their continued support. In his statement, Watanabe highlighted the launch of the all-new LBX and GX models as key drivers of customer satisfaction and growth in 2024. He also noted the operational commencement of the Toyota Technical Centre Shimoyama (TTC-S), which is expected to play a significant role in the company’s future development efforts.

Looking ahead to 2025, Watanabe reaffirmed Lexus’ commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, announcing that the company will debut new models and introduce cutting-edge concepts. Focusing on reshaping the future of mobility, Lexus is dedicated to further enhancing its engineering capabilities and customer service offerings.

The company remains committed to delivering distinctive value to customers. It builds on the strength of its legacy in the luxury vehicle market while embracing the future of mobility through electrification and advanced technology. As Lexus continues to grow globally, it aims to set new benchmarks in luxury, performance, and sustainability in the automotive industry.
