Lufthansa to operate Munich-Denver flights with Airbus A380

From April 2025 onwards

Lufthansa will begin flying from Munich to Denver next summer with the world’s largest passenger aircraft, the Airbus A380. This marks the first-ever A380 service to the US city, with the inaugural flight scheduled for April 30, 2025. Denver, located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, will become the sixth destination in Lufthansa’s A380 network.

The new daily service will depart from Munich at 11:15 a.m. under flight number LH480 and arrive in Denver at 1:45 p.m. local time. The return flight will leave Denver at 4:15 p.m. and come back in Munich at 10:50 a.m. the following day.

Heiko Reitz, Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Airlines, expressed excitement about the new route: “The Airbus A380 service to Denver is not only a first for Lufthansa but also for the airport itself. It will be the first time an aircraft of this size lands there. Passengers, airport visitors, and crews love the A380 for its spacious flying experience. Additionally, it offers more premium seats than any other aircraft.”

This summer, Lufthansa will operate eight Airbus A380s from its Munich hub. Each aircraft, featuring 509 seats, will serve a range of long-haul destinations, including New York (JFK), Boston, Washington, Los Angeles, Delhi, and now Denver. The A380’s seating configuration includes eight First Class seats, 78 Business Class seats, 52 Premium Economy seats, and 371 Economy Class seats.

Denver is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. It provides easy access to the Rocky Mountains and is a hub for various sports and nature activities. Additionally, Lufthansa passengers flying to Denver can benefit from connectivity to over 170 destinations, including cities like Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Honolulu, via Star Alliance partner United Airlines.

Lufthansa has offered direct flights to Denver from Munich for nine years and Frankfurt for 25 years. With the addition of the A380 service, passengers can look forward to even more choices. In the summer of 2025, there will be four daily flights between the US and Germany—two from Munich and two from Frankfurt.
