Maserati MCXtrema (730hp) revs it up in US world premiere

Maserati hosted the world premiere of its all-new MCXtrema limited-edition single-seater non-road-homologated race car at the high-octane Quail Monterey Car Week held in Monterey, California, on August 18, 2023.

For the past 19 years, The Quail event has established itself as a hyper-luxury and exclusive experience for car collectors and car enthusiasts from around the world.

Held at the Quail Lodge & Golf Club, the 2023 edition of The Quail featured exceptional automotive design and engineering from the past ages to the present.

The Trident brand terms the MCXtrema a veritable ‘beast’ designed for the track – with no type of approval to be driven on the road.

The MCXtrema is the most formidable and extreme track-only Maserati to date, with a V6 3.0-L twin-turbo 730hp (540kW) derived from the Maserati Nettuno engine.

All 62 units sold out

Maserati has produced only 62 units (all since sold out) of the MCXtrema for a highly discerning clientèle in terms of performance, the sophistication of design, and luxury true to the Trident’s Italian heritage.

Debuting as the Italian maker’s most powerful track car, the MCXtrema is designed exclusively for purist collectors and for the loyal customers of the Italian marque, who wish to add a new ‘toy’ to their garage that can take on the kerbs of the most exciting tracks during private tests.

The MCXtrema is a result of a creative and engineering partnership between the Centro Stile and the Maserati engineering team; with the aim of creating a racing car capable of passing on the legacy of the Maserati MC12 and to inspire Maserati’s future racing production.

Davide Grasso, CEO of Maserati, stated: “Maserati MCXtrema was created with the aim of offering an incredibly exclusive product that can set a new paradigm for our track cars.

“The project is dedicated to a selected clientèle who are particularly attentive to distinctive details, ranging from the most refined and innovative design to exceptional performance.

“MCXtrema embodies the sporting spirit typical of Maserati’s DNA, a declaration of a new pathway for our brand, devoted to superlative manufacturing and able to stand out in the world of luxury engine production with uncompromising performance”.

By 2025, all Maserati models will be available in a full-electric version, and the entire Maserati range will be electric by 2030.
