Minister of Education Opens Arabic Language and Islamic Education Conference at American School of Bahrain

His Excellency Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, inaugurated the Arabic Language and Islamic Education Conference, hosted by the American School of Bahrain under the theme “Bahrain Embraces the Arabic Language and Islamic Education: Vision and Renewal.” The event welcomed teachers, department heads, educational supervisors, administrators, and invited guests from across the Kingdom.

In his opening address, His Excellency emphasized the vital role of Arabic and Islamic Education teachers in reinforcing national identity and instilling authentic values. He praised Bahraini educators’ commitment to keeping pace with advancements in education and their openness to successful global teaching strategies, noting that such efforts deepen students’ attachment to their identity and values. His Excellency also highlighted the unique structural and linguistic features of the Arabic language, pointing to the Ministry’s efforts to advance Arabic language education, including the teaching, recitation, and interpretation of the Holy Qur’an.

Mr. Dave McMaster, Director of the American School of Bahrain, expressed his appreciation for the Ministry’s support of initiatives that benefit both teachers and students. He stressed that such events serve as an important platform for exchanging educational expertise and developing teaching strategies, ultimately raising students’ academic standards.

Dr. Nour Abu Atieh, Head of Arabic Language and Culture at the American School of Bahrain, emphasized that participation in the conference enriches various aspects of Arabic and Islamic Education through the exchange of successful practices and training sessions that offer innovative, practical solutions for educators.

The conference program featured three panel discussions addressing challenges faced by Arabic and Islamic Education teachers, the role of educational leaders in supporting language and identity, and innovation in teaching methods. Specialized training workshops were also held to further develop teachers’ skills and enhance their professional expertise.

This event reflects the Ministry of Education’s ongoing commitment to supporting initiatives that elevate the teaching of Arabic and Islamic Education while strengthening teachers’ capabilities and professional competence to deliver high-quality education.
