Mubadala Investment Company, the Abu Dhabi-based global investor, has agreed to make a significant minority investment in Luckin Coffee alongside Centurium Capital, the company’s controlling shareholder. The transaction has an aggregate value of approximately US$1 billion.
The investment reflects Mubadala’s growing focus on China’s consumer sector, where demand for freshly brewed coffee continues to rise. More consumers are entering the coffee market, while regular drinkers are increasing their consumption.
Mohamed Albadr, Head of Asia, Private Equity at Mubadala, said Luckin Coffee’s technology-driven business model, digital customer engagement and rapid product innovation have helped it respond quickly to changing consumer preferences.
He added that Mubadala looks forward to working with Centurium Capital and Luckin Coffee’s management team to support the company’s future growth in China and international markets.
Michael Chen, Partner at Centurium Capital, welcomed Mubadala as a new investor, saying its industry expertise, global perspective and international network would support Luckin Coffee’s continued innovation and long-term development.
The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions.
Founded in 2017, Luckin Coffee has developed into one of China’s leading coffee platforms. Its retail model combines a large store network with digital customer services, product innovation and integrated supply chain operations, making freshly prepared coffee more accessible to consumers.
