Western International Group, the parent company of Nesto hypermarkets, is accelerating the regional growth of its value retail chain Mark & Save with plans to open eight new hypermarkets in the GCC over the next six months. The group has not yet disclosed the exact locations of the new outlets.
The announcement comes as Mark & Save marks 200 days of operations at its flagship store in Ajman Industrial Area, underscoring the success of the “affordable luxury” retail format since its launch in 2022.
“Mark & Save continues to strengthen its footprint in the UAE and GCC by blending value-driven pricing with a unique customer experience,” said Debangshu Adhikari, Senior Vice President at Mark & Save.
Currently, the brand operates eight stores in the UAE and 19 across the GCC, with a new location set to open soon in Ajman Al Thalla. The stores offer more than 200,000 products sourced from international markets including Poland, Turkey, Norway, the UK, Spain, China, Bangladesh, and Thailand.
Western International Group, which also owns household names such as Geepas and Royalford, recently made headlines with its acquisition of Safeer Mall in Sharjah, where a Mark & Save outlet is expected to open by 2026.
“We cater to diverse nationalities and communities by curating assortments that reflect cultural preferences, ensuring that ethnic and specialty products are always available,” said Mohammed Fasil, Head of Operations at Mark & Save.
The company’s aggressive expansion reflects the broader momentum in the UAE retail sector. According to Dubai Chambers, retail sales in the country are projected to grow by 6.6% annually, reaching $70.5 billion by 2025, with store-based retailing alone expected to grow at 5.7% CAGR.
With a workforce of over 3,000 employees, Mark & Save has set its sights on becoming a global brand, targeting 500 stores worldwide, including in India, Southeast Asia, North America, and Europe.
To celebrate its Ajman milestone, Mark & Save will host a four-day mega discount event from September 25–28, featuring daily winners of shopping vouchers worth Dh200 for the next 200 days.
